Recognition continues for the Toyota LandCruiser Emergency Network and Saatchi & Saatchi Australia

Saatchi & Saatchi Australia has been awarded three Graphite Pencils at the inaugural D&AD Awards in New York for the Toyota LandCruiser Emergency Network. The awards aim to identify and celebrate transformative, creative ideas that have had real impact and, ultimately, contributed towards a better, fairer and more sustainable future for all.

The LandCruiser Emergency Network was also recognised at Spikes Asia in Singapore, winning the Innovation Spike as well as Silver and Bronze. Saatchi & Saatchi was the only Australian agency to win an innovation Spike at the Festival this year.

The ground-breaking Toyota LandCruiser Emergency Network provides a platform for emergency communication in Australia’s outback. In partnership with Flinders University, Saatchi & Saatchi Australia is pioneering a device that uses Wi-Fi, UHF and Delay Tolerant Networking (DTN) technology to enable Toyota LandCruisers to communicate with each other across a 25km radius. The technology is currently being trialled in a fleet of LandCruisers throughout the remote Flinders Ranges of South Australia.

Earlier this year the LandCruiser Emergency Network won a Creative Innovation Lion in Cannes, the agency’s second in a row, along with a Gold Lion and Silver Lion in the Promo and Activation categories. Saatchi & Saatchi was the only Australian agency to be recognised in the Innovation category this year at Cannes and are now the only agency in the world to win back-to-back Innovation Lions two years running with Penny the Pirate for OPSM and the Toyota LandCruiser Emergency Network.
